SPF toolings made of heat resistant cast steels suffer some limitations due to long delivery times and to rather high costs. Fiber reinforced refractory concretes (FRRC’s) constitute an alternative materials for such applications. Their mechanical properties are now well known in a wide temperature range. FRRC’s are able to conserve good mechanical properties up to 900°C and guarantees a good dimensional accuracy. Reinforcement by metallic fibers allows particularly to avoid a catastrophic failure of the material and to increase its lifetime. The choice of the fiber material composition and their volume fraction influence this lifetime. Through laboratory tests and industrial examples, this choice of fibers is discussed. Successful results are presented in the field of forming Ti-6Al-4V sheets.
