Incorporation of friction at the die-sheet interface in simulating the superplastic forming process is necessary for getting accurate predictions. In addition, understanding the effect of friction on the thinning behavior helps in designing lubricant application for better thickness distribution. The effect of the assumed coefficient of friction value at the die-sheet interface on the results of finite element simulations of a superplastic forming process of AA5083 at 450°C is investigated.
