Scope and Topics
The conference is the eighth in the triennial series of
International Conferences on Superplasticity in Advanced Materials.
The ICSAM conferences are the pre-eminent international forum for
superplastic forming and related areas. This conference aims to bring
together those involved in all aspects of superplastic forming -
industrial, academic, theoretical and experimental - in surroundings
conducive to the fruitful exchange of information and ideas.
Major topics of the conference will include:
- Superplasticity in metals, intermetallics, ceramics,
nanostructured materials and composites
- Micromechanisms of grain boundary sliding and
superplasticity
- Modelling of forming processes
- Diffusion bonding and other joining methods for
superplastically formed parts
- New applications of superplastic forming
- Presses and tooling
- Failure mechanisms and the prediction of failure
- Die friction and its consequences
- Production and stability of fine grained microstructures
- Cavity nucleation and growth during superplastic flow
- Environmental superplasticity
- High strain rate superplasticity
- Microstructure-macroproperty relationships
- Development of constitutive equations for modelling
purposes
- Fine grain production through severe plastic deformation
- New alloys for superplastic forming
- Product design for superplastic forming
- Future directions for superplasticity
